Blue Hydrangea is a piece I created using a restrained palette of blue and green tones as part of a challenge to compose beauty through limitation. I chose oil pastels for their ability to blend softly and create delicate textures that evoke calmness and emotional stillness. At the center of the piece is a peaceful figure surrounded by blooming hydrangeas, not just as a visual focus, but as a representation of how I imagine the human spirit connecting with nature. The figure is not meant to be realistic or defined; instead, it exists in a dreamlike state, gently held by petals, almost becoming part of the landscape itself. In this piece, nature isn’t just in the background, it’s part of the figure’s world and almost feels like it’s embracing them.
